The Glazer Media Initiative at the Moshe Dayan Center
The Glazer Media Initiative at the Moshe Dayan Center is a media center which offers students and researchers a unique opportunity to explore Middle Eastern history through the lens of feature and documentary films, music, and broadcasts from the region. The media center houses an extensive film collection on various topics related to the Middle East (places, persons, culture, music, conflict). In addition to its vast collection, the media center offers access to satellite services and broadcasting of important regional channels.
Adding a cultural component to Middle Eastern studies, the Glazer Media Initiative serves as a valuable source for conducting research. It contributes to a further understanding of the region and offers an alternative way to stay informed about recent developments in the Middle East. While the media center's archives provide background information on historical and contemporary themes of interest to the student and researcher of Middle Eastern studies, the opportunity to follow regional broadcasting will increase the Dayan Center's up to the minute analysis of the region. Moreover, the resources of the media center can be used as teaching material for professors that will assist in stimulating in-depth discussion in the classroom.
The Glazer Media Initiative operates a blog that contains links with information about current cultural events in the Middle East, and provides a continuously updated digest of articles regarding film, art and culture in the region.
