Amb. Rabinovich, PhD (UCLA, 1971), is the president of the Israel Institute (Washington and Jerusalem), Israel's former Ambassador to the United States and Chief Negotiator with Syria (1992-1996) and the former President of Tel Aviv University (1999-2007). He is Professor Emeritus of Middle Eastern History at Tel Aviv University, Distinguished Global Professor at NYU and a Distinguished Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He was also Rector of Tel Aviv University (1990-1992); Dean of Humanities (1989-1990); and Director, The Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies (1980-1988).
Amb. Rabinovich stepped down as President of Tel Aviv University in May 2007 upon the conclusion of his eight-year term and has returned to the Moshe Dayan Center as a Senior Research Fellow.
