| The library
specializes in materials on the modern Middle East. Its extensive
collections of journals, articles, economic material, bibliographies and
other reference material, to name but a few, are of great value to
students and researchers alike. The articles are indexed in a sophisticated database and searchable by keywords, author, titles and various other parameters. Currently, there are over 100,000 items in the database. In addition, the library houses a fine collection of the Archive Editions (reprints of British Government documents). In the economic section, a broad selection of statistical material from and about the countries of the Middle East is at hand. The library puts special emphasis on digital materials: databases, such as the US goverment's World News Connection (WNC) and British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) monitoring services are in extensive use. On-line electronic materials, such as daily newspapers, are disseminated by the library staff to the faculty. The library is part of "ALEPH," the Israeli academic library computer system, providing access to all academic catalogs and databases. Every two months, an "Electronic Current Contents of Articles" keeps readers up-to-date on the latest articles on the Middle East. The library also publishes
bi-weekly Library Updates, which are essentially links to
the full-text of reports, policy papers and briefings published by
institutes, and organizations the world over, on subjects related to the
modern Middle East, North Africa and Islam. Opening hours are Sunday-Thursday, 8.30 am to 2.30 p.m., year-round, except national holidays. Photocopying machine on premises.
