Mordechai Tamarkin presented a paper on “History, Culture, Collective memory and the Shaping of Symbolic Space in the city of Cluj, Transylvania, under Communism,” at the April 2003 conference of the Association for the Study of Nationalities convened at Columbia University. In July he delivered a paper on “Conflict Resolution in South Africa and Israel: Comparative Perspectives,” at the conference of the International Political Science Association in Durban.
